A lucky left turn led us to the lodges at Tilford Woods in Surrey, where our extended family had already popped open the prosecco. A weekend of family fun awaited, and we started to relax as our kids discovered their first and second cousins blissfully quickly and ran riot in the darkness outside.
Alice Holt Forest is run by the Forestry Commission and was brilliant, with a huge range of activities on offer. We barely scratched the surface and will definitely be making another trip there.
The Jolly Farmer was a welcome venue for a big crowd. http://jollyfarmerblacknest.co.uk/
