Packing for a day trip is not so different, causing only a little less stress and a little less key "kiddie gear" waiting to be stuffed into the groaning car, or heaved onto a waiting train. You think with a sigh, "Why do we need ALL this STUFF?"
Some stick to simple lists on scraps of paper. Some dash off illegible notes on a magnetic fridge memo board. Others have it all their head. There are the queens of the last-minute frenzy, there are the long-term military operation lovers.
Our Snoob advice: do whatever works for you to minimise stress and make your holiday actually feel like one. If you need to stick the kids in front of the TV while you sit eating pastries on an over-packed suitcase to make it shut, fine. If you prefer your children to be involved, each with his/her own role, like the baby in charge of entertaining the rest of you with cute gurgles while you race around madly, great! Or you may be a night owl (by nature or necessity) going solo and achieving miracles while the rest of the house is silent.
Whatever your workable method, we've checked out a few helping hands on the internet and reckon there is something for everyone out there. Here are some websites that offer a range of ideas, some right from the second you feel inspired by your best friend's chat about traveling through Africa with kids, to the best way one busy mum of 4 boys has found to pack clothing:
